Units of Study
At the grade 10 level, students continue to develop their skills in Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as Digital Photography.
Non-Representation Art
Students explore Non-representational art by creating a series of designs based on abstract feelings and emotions.
Graphic Design
Students learn the principles of graphic design (CRAP) and apply them by designing a logo. Students have the option to create a material rendition of their logo on a t-shirt or button.
Portraiture
Students explore the tradition of portraiture and create a vector self portrait.
Digital Photography
Students learn strategies and techniques behind taking great photos and apply them through a series of photographic expeditions and exercises, culminating in the creation of a portfolio of their best work. Students will have access to a class set of point-and-click digital cameras, or may use they may use their own.
Socially Conscious Art
Students investigate a social issue and use design and photo manipulation techniques to create a work of art inspired by that issue.
Final Evaluation
As part of their summative evaluation, students prepare a selection of their work for our bi-annual Arts Showcase and construct a reflective portfolio of their best work.
